On Sept. 24, the Supreme CourtŌĆÖs second division announced that it has upheld the original prison sentences in the appeals trial of Jung Joon Young and Choi Jong Hoon, who were indicted on charges of violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes. Back in 2016, the two singers were arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a drunken woman as a group. Jung Joon Young was also accused of distributing illegal footage 11 times in late 2015 by secretly sending videos of his sexual relations with women via Kakao group chat. During the trial, they claimed that some of the alleged sexual assault were ŌĆ£consensual sex.ŌĆØ Last November, the Seoul Central District Court sentenced Jung Joon Young to six years in prison and Choi Jong Hoon to five years in prison for charges including aggravated rape, which were reduced to 5-year and 2.5-year prison sentences in the second trial.
